History of Houston Middle School

 

Our school was built and opened in 2003.  The staff at HMS consists of 26 certified staff and a support staff of 17.  Currently the school's enrollment is about 350 students in grades 6th through 8th for the 2023-2024 school year.  Our school's current boundary ranges from Church Rd to the Willow/Fishhook Hatcher Pass Road area on the George Parks Hwy, which includes the Meadow Lakes area and the Big Lake area in between.

 

The school is located 12.5 miles north-west of the City of Wasilla and 51.5 miles north of Anchorage along the George Parks Highway.  As you get closer to Houston Middle School you will see the Welcome to Houston sign just past the Big Lake turn off on your left. 

 

From there you will see a green sign on your right indicating that the middle and high school turn off will be coming up.  Take a left turn at the intersection onto Hawk Lane and travel about one half mile up to the school.  Houston Middle School will be on your left as you continue driving on Hawk Lane.
